4kb sector disks on NetBSD?

I have a iomega ego rphd-ug3 500 gb external usb 3 disk.

It apparently uses the new 4k byte sector sizes. It seems to work
with XP, but not NetBSD.

I can write a disklabel to it, but newfs -S4096 fails with:

rdfs: read error for sector 1: Invalid argument

the partition table is:

# /dev/rsd0d:
type: SCSI
disk: Ext Hard Disk
label: fictitious
flags:
bytes/sector: 4096
sectors/track: 32
tracks/cylinder: 64
sectors/cylinder: 2048
cylinders: 59616
total sectors: 122094086
rpm: 3600
interleave: 1
trackskew: 0
cylinderskew: 0
headswitch: 0 # microseconds
track-to-track seek: 0 # microseconds
drivedata: 0

5 partitions:
# size offset fstype [fsize bsize cpg/sgs]
 d: 122094086 0 4.2BSD 0 0 0 # (Cyl. 0 - 59616*)

There seems no documentation from the manufacturer for compatibility mode,
can't open the case to find jumpers.

Strange it works on XP.

Any help appreciated.
