Re: font rendering problem on modular Xorg

This error does not occur with all fonts. Switching to a non-antialiased
font like "terminus" or "fixed" seems to work around the problem.

So, you're lucky. Didn't work for me.

Perhaps, this behavior has something to do with the linking process to the font rendering library (I'm not sure). The other day, I've tried 'CTRL + X 2' to have two buffers on my emacs and I've got this: the top buffer behave normally. However, on the bottom buffer, only part of the text is shown and nothing on the command buffer.

Hi,

Is anyone experimenting a font rendering problem like this?
While using jwm, bouml, openoffice and emacs, I’ve just got blank label
on most of the menu items, buttons, or textboxes those programs have.
When typing command on emacs, the cursor moves but no text is shown.
The same behavior appears when I open an 'file dialog' (openoffice, bouml).

Curiously, xfce and firefox work perfectly.

Same here. Also, when I write in an xterm (80x25), everything works
normally, until the prompt reaches the lower half of the window - then
the text becomes invisible. But when I maximize the xterm to the full
height, it works again.

It's also independant of the window manager, I already tried twm,
windowmaker and ratpoison.

I’ve checked (xorg.conf, mkfontscale/dir and fc-cache) fonts path
configuration
but found nothing wrong.

Just like me. I guess, it is a bug in one of the Xorg libraries.

I’m using pkgsrc 2011Q3, modular Xorg and the current version 5.99.56.

I'm running modular Xorg from pkgsrc-2003Q3, too, but on NetBSD 5.1.
