Wireless card recommendations
Hi All,
Just wondering what people recommend for wireless hardware under
NetBSD these days?
I'm currently running NetBSD 5.1 (atop a recent kernel), and have an
edermax wifi card, using the ral driver, however it's never seemed
quite 'right', and as the wired NICs in the box are intel and this was
a very cheap card (which I could use elsewhere) I think it might be
time to give the server something decent.
So, what card/chipset do people recommend? Anything to avoid
particularly? I've had a look at the list here:
http://www.netbsd.org/support/hardware/pci.html but would like to know
what people actually use, and use well. (PCI-E would be acceptable
too.)
I'll be using this through the ever reliable hostapd? (Does anyone
have reliable WPA2 without using a build from -current for this?)
Current dmesg, although not very informative:
(root:/emul)# dmesg | grep ral
ral0 at pci4 dev 4 function 0: vendor 0x1814 product 0x0301 (rev. 0x00)
ral0: interrupting at ioapic0 pin 23
ral0: 802.11 address 00:0e:2e:44:15:94
ral0: MAC/BBP RT2561C, RF RT2527
ral0: 11b rates: 1Mbps 2Mbps 5.5Mbps 11Mbps
ral0: 11g rates: 1Mbps 2Mbps 5.5Mbps 11Mbps 6Mbps 9Mbps 12Mbps 18Mbps
24Mbps 36Mbps 48Mbps 54Mbps
Cheers,
Ian
