fuse-afpfs-ng: Could not find /dev/fuse0

Hello,

I'd like to use filesystems/fuse-afpfs-ng, but when I try to mount an
AFP share, I get the error message:

Could not find /dev/fuse0

I'm not quite sure if on NetBSD I need this pseudo-device, since we use
puffs(3); I'm running a generic NetBSD-5.0.2 kernel, which has puffs
enabled and /dev/putter exists.

This is my first attempt to use a fuse -- what am I missing?
