Problem building 5.0.1_patch with LANGUAGES+=fort77

Running NetBSD mailsrv 5.0.1_PATCH NetBSD 5.0.1_PATCH (MAIL) #21: Mon Jan 18
12:13:24 PST 2010 root@mail:/usr/obj/sys/arch/i386/compile/MAIL i386

Immediately after

   cd /usr/src
   ./ -O BUILD_OBJ -T BUILD_TOOL cleandir
   cvs update -Pd
   ./ -O BUILD_OBJ -T BUILD_TOOL release

I get this error regarding fort77 (text appended at the end of this mail),
which is mentioned in /etc/mk.conf as

   LANGUAGES += fort77

IIRC fortran was recommended during the install of the openoffice3 package?

Can someone set me straight on why this is happening? A workaround that
doesn't require me to change mk.conf depending what I'm building would be

# create i386/
