I'm not sure about the dates, but it looks to me as though NetBSD 5.0.1
appeared end of July 2009, but support for Intel 5100 appeared in the iwn
driver mid September, so 5.0.1 might just not match the card.

Could you try a -current kernel, eg

http://nyftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD-daily/HEAD/201001190000Z/i386/binary/kernel/netbsd-MONOLITHIC.gz

(or are you using amd64 or other?)
