stupid problem with useradd

Hi,

"useradd -m username" goes into recursive creation of home directories 
like "/home/username/username/username ..." (NetBSD 5.0.1).

I've searched the documentation, mailing list archives, and bug reports 
database but did not find any helpful pointers or clues.

What am I doing wrong?
