Hi Feico,

Try this in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf:

Option     "DRI" "False"

I've got the same laptop and it did the trick.  Don't know why
this is needed in X.org and not in XFree86; maybe someone more
knowledgeable can explain.  If you want the whole file let me
know.
