netbsd 5 and kernel modules

Hi,

Are kernel modules supposed to work in NetBSD 5 ? modloading an lkm 
results in problems described at [1] and [2], while trying to load a 
kmod is refused by the same modload.

Is there a plan to backport at least the kmod functionality from -current ?
