Unfortunately, 4.1 is slow in the making... 4.0.1 is really only 4.0
with security patches and fatal bug fixes. No fixes for every day
bugs, no driver updates.
But, instead of going to netbsd-5 which may come with hidden dragons,
you could just get a nightly snapshot from the netbsd-4 branch (see
<ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD-daily/netbsd-4/>. The netbsd-4
kernels are binary compatible with NetBSD 4 release, so you can drop
in the new kernel and see how it goes.
