RAIDFrame and desktop drives; GreenPower

Aloha. What's the list wisdom on using standard desktop drives in a RAID in
general, and with RAIDFrame in particular? Is WD's TLER (Time-limited error
recovery) just marketing? Is RAIDFrame's error timeout configurable?

Quote from WD site:
RAID-specific, time-limited error recovery (TLER) -
Significantly reduces drive fallout caused by the extended hard drive
error-recovery processes common to desktop drives.

Also, has anyone tried out the new GreenPower Caviar drives? How are they? Do
they run cool? Are they fast? Are they quiet?
