carp fail over

Good Morning,

I need some clarification:
I have a two servers with 3 pairs of carp nics.
net.inet.carp.preempt=1
Does this mean if I unplug a single network cable from the MASTER node all of 
the carp connections will fail over the BACKUP node.

I am currently using netbsd 4.0.
