One of them contacted me off list and we resolved it as an operator 
error as dhcpcd doesn't touch any pre-existing addresses or routes (a 
subnet route for an address being the exception if dhcpcd was able to 
add the address).

If the 2nd person has the same problem or he/she contacts me we can 
wrap that up :)
