I assume you mean E7-8870?  (E8870 is an itanium chipset...)  is there a
reason you didn't try amd64?

I was never able to get NetBSD to boot on the QSSC-S4r systems I have
access to at work, but I haven't tried in over a year.  I recall getting
ACPI-related panics, but didn't have a serial console set up, and the
box(es) were needed for actual work so I had to set NetBSD aside.

I've wondered if perhaps xen with a netbsd dom0 would have better luck.

(and also wondered how well build.sh -j 80 would work...)
