build failure "make ...distribution" in /usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/gdb6/gdb

I've been having no good luck building userland for a few days now (not helped 
by unstable kernel, which crashes during cvs updates and renders checkout 
borked :~(  )...anyway, below is from fresh checkout:
