Sounds like my problem on a commodity box running NetBSD 5.0.1
(GENERIC) #0: Thu Jul 30 01:39:11 UTC 2009. I had already tried a few upgrades before that. I was about to upgrade to the latest version to
see if it was fixed since then. I will report once I have.

NetBSD 5.99.28 (GENERIC) #0: Sat May 1 13:21:43 UTC 2010
builds%b7.netbsd.org@localhost:/home/builds/ab/HEAD/i386/201005010000Z-obj/ home/builds/ab/HEAD/src/sys/arch/i386/compile/GENERIC
total memory = 767 MB
avail memory = 743 MB
mainbus0 (root)
cpu0 at mainbus0 apid 0

When disabling ACPI, cpu0 gets apid 1 at mainbus0. Does that mean anything to anyone?

Since this is bugging me still, can someone give me a pointer where to start looking in order to fix this?

Cheers
        Oskar
