Yup, it does seem to work. fstat shows many internet and internet6 sockets,
and a route socket.
root ntpd 238 wd / 2 drwxr-xr-x 512 r

Well, I must admit, I've never even verified that ntpd doesn't work. Just
that I get those error messages on console. :-)
I can confirm that I don't see the errors when I stop and restart ntpd. Ooh,
interesting, the fstat output changed:
root ntpd 852 wd / 2 drwxr-xr-x 512 r
root ntpd 852 0 / 30380 crw-rw-rw- null rw
root ntpd 852 1 / 30380 crw-rw-rw- null rw
root ntpd 852 2 / 30380 crw-rw-rw- null rw
root ntpd 852 3* unix dgram 2aeb680 <-> 279c680
root ntpd 852 20* internet dgram udp 276dd40 *:123
root ntpd 852 21* internet6 dgram udp 2773950 *:123
root ntpd 852 22* internet dgram udp 276de00 206.138.151.41:123
root ntpd 852 23* internet6 dgram udp 2773b30
[fe80::203:baff:fe05:e47a%tlp0]:123
root ntpd 852 24* internet6 dgram udp 2773c20
[2001:5c0:1101:420:203:baff:fe05:e47a]:123
root ntpd 852 25* internet dgram udp 276dec0 127.0.0.1:123
root ntpd 852 26* internet6 dgram udp 2773d10 [::1]:123
root ntpd 852 27* internet6 dgram udp 2773e00 [fe80::1%lo0]:123
root ntpd 852 28* route raw 0 276b5e0
Notice that the 'route' is now the last, and the internet6 udp socket on the
routable address is earlier in the list.
