No FreeBSD backport on my side.  I only butchered net80211 enough to
make the ral(4) port from OpenBSD work.

and is expected to be found in /libdata/firmware/ral.

Yes.  re(4) needs a lot of work to work with some chips, including the
one the EeeBox has.
