On a few systems I checked, ABI is empty. REQUIRES is set, like:
REQUIRES=/usr/lib/libc.so.12
if that helps.
But I think that is only set if PKG_DEVELOPER or CHECK_SHLIBS_SUPPORTED is 
set.

ABI is currently only used on IRIX or Solaris for pkgsrc to choose 64 bit 
or 32 bit.
