I just tried again, and got a somewhat different backtrace:

        pmap_enter() + 0x793
        uvm_fault_internal() + 0xad9
        trap() + 0x744
        --- trap (number 0) ---
        0:

Maybe the hardware isn't as stable as I thought it was.

So, I ran memtest+ back a couple months ago when I got the box, and it 
passed with flying colors.  But now it spews errors.  Hmmm.
