Yes. Everything in "/usr/X11R7/lib/X11/xkb" looks fine and similar to my 5.0
systems.

All keys are reported correctly by xev(1) and these can be mapped manually
to a custom layout via xmodmap(1) (although AltGr/Mode_switch does not work
with this hack -- no @£${}[]\ etc. for me -- nor can I test if switching to
VTs works).

By the way, I see that a lot of Linux systems as well as FreeBSD use a
symlink equivalent to

/usr/X11R7/lib/X11/xkb/compiled -> /var/db/xkb

But this alone did not solve the issue.
