  | Not sure this is good, but you get
  |    hw.${audioif}.{frequency,precision,channels}

Is this new with the in-kernel audio mixer ?

If so that would explain why I can't find it - the most recent kernel I'm
actully running is 7.99.43 which predates that - except for when I run an
up to date system for testing, but that's a Xen DomU with no audio (and
no sign of hw.*.frequency)

  | sysctl nodes for each audio interface. So on no-audio machines
  |
  | sysctl hw | fgrep .frequency
  |
  | should produce no output.

I'll try that, and see what happens on the b5 sparc where there is audio,
and the tests still work...

  | Could test more fancy with "sysctl hw|awk" probably.

Fancy isn't good for ATF tests, simple and works is much much better.
