It completely breaks the build on illumos, possibly breaks macOS, and puts all the other bulk builds at least a few days behind as they now have to rebuild everything affected when folks are most likely to want up-to-date build reports so that they can fix things during the freeze.
I'm obviously very angry that this was allowed to go in, and I literally do not understand why we even bother having a freeze if we're just going to allow major updates to core packages without adequate testing or notice, but my objections to the update policies are well documented at this point so there's no point going over it all again.
