This is not really something I should be having an opinion on.
But, fact is, I do have one.

First of all, it's a pity we had to reach the fork stage and the consequent dilution of already scarce resources.
Personally, I wish that this could be solved and the fork could be forgotten.

We should soon be in freeze for the Q1 branching which, I think won't happen this time.

So, my suggestion would be to freeze the tree completly for a 2 - 3 weeks (not even leaf packages allowed) and let jperkin do whatever he needs/wants to do.

Feel free to disregard my opinion but, for the sake of avoiding resource loss and for the sake of the future of pkgsrc, I kindly ask you to consider this.
