Have you filed a bug upstream with gobject-introspection?  I can see
that you have to add rpath messing, but this really feels like a bug in
some upstream code.  (The notion that building on darwin must be
"manual" is not reasonable; not sure how much that affects upstream
decisions.)

I'm not trying to say your change shouldn't go in, but I have strong
bias to send upstream bug fixes upstream.
