My guess is that 'ydl' stands for Yellow Dog Linux and the rest is patchlevel
number. I find the proposed patch quite useful, too. I suppose anything after
the '-' should be ignored, though in the case of RHEL and clones this info is
significant, given Red Hat's habit of sticking to a particular kernel version
and backporting changes.
