How are they updated / who is responsible for the update? That's been a
long running issue with NetBSD and you don't want to repeat that
mistake. It is a lesser issue with isolated programs like ftp, tar or
fetch, which generally have a fixed feature set. It is very confusing
with pkg_install as you will end up with two different versions
installed over the maintainance time of a release, if it is over a year
old or so.
