My only guess is that I think I was booting the install kernel last
night which is larger. Maybe the boot loader has a maximum size. But
the GENERIC kernel seems to boot now.

But now I have an almost working multi-user booting diskless Vax
4000/60. The only problem I have now is the one reported previously on
this list of sshd refusing all connection attempts with an invalid
mac:

sshd[70]: fatal: ssh_dispatch_run_fatal: message authentication code
incorrect [preauth]

I suspect this is related to the gcc bugs and hopefully will be fixed
when those are fixed?
