Someone (sorry, not sure who) said that the hypot code might be throwing
an exception by generating an illegal instruction.

(I would thing SIGFPE might be better, but *only* if it where specifically
enabled)

I'm going to do a little looking into that, but first I'm switching back
to -current if that's ok.  I'd like to get -current working and only
then go back to -beta_5
