ah, yes.  if you use an old enough release and a cut down
kernel, then netbsd-7 and netbsd-8 work OK, but -current
does not.  that needs a revert in kern_exec.c, and then
maybe some more work to free up some KVA -- i had uarea
and vm_map hangs.

thanks to maya@ for noticing the KERN_AS issue.  we should
make a decision about which to leave out.. my config is
