How do I math? I meant that the mid-point between netbsd-5 and netbsd-11
would be netbsd-8.

8.3 was solid on the hme0 interface on the qfe card. 9.4_STABLE from
the daily builds (only GENERIC kernel and modules installed, running with
8.3 userland) was better than 11 or -current, but eventually provoked
a hang. No kernel messages but 'dhcpcd' reported that the lease had
expired. (I had it running 'tar tzvpf ...' of every install set which
directory was mounted over NFS.)
I've backed up to 9.2 and repeated the same test and it was solid so
am updating userland to match. There was no 9.3 in the NetBSD-archive,
so I'll probably have to check that out and build it locally.
So, somewhere between 9.2 and 9.4 something adversely affects hme(4)
interfaces on a SUNW,qfe card.
