Well, $MACHINE doesn't jave to be what everyone calls it. Nobody refers
to the machines NetBSD/i386 runs on as "i386es", right? They're "clones"
or "pcs" or whatever. :-)

I'd say "ppc" should be used consistently instead of "powerpc", too.
It's all just a matter of preference, though.
