vfat is a linux thing. NetBSD has msdos which covers FAT, FAT32 and the various Win95 extensions.
Thank you ! This hint allowed me to mount the usb stick and copy the kernel I compiled and boot it. It works ! It boots correctly, ls works, it shuts down correctly; I know, this is not a throughout test but that's enough for me, now.
So this means that I can compile the kernel under Linux and no quirk comes up.
Why would you even want dhcp for such a small network? Just assign it a static IP.
Well, yes, I could just assign it a static IP and go on with that, but why shouldn't I be able to set up a dhcp client ? I'm using dhcp on the Ubuntu machine and on another Mac Os machine, here.
Anyway, now I have to read something about the wskbd thing and then try to write the piece for the Italian keyboard, since I can test my work, now.
Thanks SO MUCH for your help, Michael, really.
Bye
