Michael,
I managed to compile the whole thing on Ubuntu, with NO

I put it on a usb stick but of course I don't see how to mount it

It should show up as a SCSI or ATA disk ( sd or wd, check your dmesg
output ), the kernel should automatically generate a disk label for it
and I'm pretty sure FAT support is in macppc's GENERIC.
can you help me ?
I'll try.
Or maybe it's easier to set up the network and put the thing in a
shared folder on the Ubuntu machine ?
That's much easier and you'll probably find it much more convenient
since it avoids a lot of copying stuff around and you don't have to
move that USB stick between machines constantly. What I usually do is
to export the build directory via nfs, mount it on the target machine
and have a script handy that just copies a freshly built kernel.
have fun
Michael
