auich(4) + artsd = lockup with ACPI

Hello,

Environment: NetBSD/i386 4.0, running on Asus P4P800-E motherboard
(i865PE chipset; has onboard auich(4).); KDE 3.5.8, arts 1.5.9.

Any KDE application that uses artsd almost immediately locks up the
system -- the machine does not respond to ping, to Num Lock, even serial
console is dead. Anything that does not use artsd (mpg123, mplayer,
xine, timidity...) plays audio just fine.

I found two workarounds -- recompile without ACPI or install a PCI audio
card; I could live with either, but a fix would be nice to have.

ACPI-enabled kernel:

auich0 at pci0 dev 31 function 5: i82801EB (ICH5) AC-97 Audio
auich0: interrupting at ioapic0 pin 17 (irq 7)
auich0: ac97: Analog Devices AD1985 codec; headphone, 20 bit DAC, no 3D stereo
auich0: ac97: ext id 3c7<AMAP,LDAC,SDAC,CDAC,SPDIF,DRA,VRA>
auich0: measured ac97 link rate at 47999 Hz, will use 48000 Hz
audio0 at auich0: full duplex, mmap, independent

Without ACPI:

auich0 at pci0 dev 31 function 5: i82801EB (ICH5) AC-97 Audio
auich0: interrupting at irq 7
auich0: ac97: Analog Devices AD1985 codec; headphone, 20 bit DAC, no 3D stereo
auich0: ac97: ext id 3c7<AMAP,LDAC,SDAC,CDAC,SPDIF,DRA,VRA>
auich0: measured ac97 link rate at 13473 Hz, will use 48000 Hz
audio1 at auich0: full duplex, mmap, independent
