1. this is not 'in the source tree', these files are used to generate
INSTALL.html etc which appear on the ftp site. currently these are
very out of date which is embarrasing. the wiki is more up to date
so i want to focus on this first.

2. i had the idea of writing a script which extracts u-boots from
binary packages and puts them in a directory on the ftp site.
i can play with this idea more once my hardware arrives in the post.
