Sorry I meant vfs_trans.c. A problematic change was present between
2018/09/27 and 2018/10/05. If the image dates from 2018-10-06 it
should have the newer version, but we can't be sure.

I fear the ident symbols have been left out by the objcopy have producing
the .img file ...

Anyway, building a kernel from up to date sources is worth trying
