This problem also happens on amd64 on my machine, and (I think) Christos 
also reported it.  The issue seems to be with the mouse itself.

And the cycle repeats once per 62 seconds!

It seems that the mouse might not be responding to some sort of keep- 
alive.

HOWEVER, the problem goes away (or at least, no console messages get 
logged) whenever the console is switched to an X-display (wscons #5).

This might not be an option for rPi...
