Re: DEC PWS500au (MiataGL) EIDE Issues

I also tried plugging in a CF-IDE adapter directly in to the port, but that didn't help, either. I didn't get the long pauses while the kernel retries, but while I do get a detection, during boot (with weird geometry), the installer refuses to see the disk.

I picked up an LSI 53c876 dual-port PCI-X SCSI HBA, from my house, to try that this evening. I know that the '876 isn't directly supported, but figured that it was worth a shot. I also grabbed an Adaptec 2940UW.

Thanks!

So, as you can see, the geometry is still a mess. I have tried both both 40 and 80 conductor IDE cables.

Thanks!

I currently have a SATA-IDE bridge attached to the primary IDE interface and a standard IDE CD-ROM attached to the secondary IDE interface. I get similar issues with a standard IDE disk, specifically tested with a Seagate ST340016A 40GB drive.

Thanks!
