I've updated wip/grub2 to 2.00. There are some pkglint warnings that I don't know how to avoid. I don't really get grub, but my impression is that we should keep sysutils/grub for grub1 and add grub2, because I think there are reasons to stay at 1. Is that your sense and/or plan?
