Ok, yeh, if you selected the wrong update kit then this would cause the
problem. Extracting the full kit results in pkgdb corruption as you are
overwriting all of the binaries and pkgdb entries and ending up with
duplicates, whereas the upgrade kit only updates the config files and
PGP keys.
I wonder though why this didn't surface earlier.
Earlier versions of pkgin and pkg_install didn't handle this situation
as well, so I think you probably only recently updated to a newer set of
tools that will correctly discover and warn about it.
