Mostly, they are inspired by this image of a prairie dog which some
of us have taken up as an "unofficial NetBSD mascot":

However, they're meant to be neutral. This is for the version of
Firefox from pkgsrc (not just NetBSD), and some cultures may have
negative associations with the word dog.
