They have so-far been ineffective. I tried with firefox-46 on a machine
that still had pkgsrc-2016Q1 packages on it and rolled back my main
system to firefox-47 (pkgsrc-2016Q2), both of which used to work just
fine for the now-problem web site. At least firefox-47 doesn't up and
crash for no apparent reason.

Resuming experiments with konqueror, I killed it and launched it again
in the foreground and saw lots of messages about too many open files.
Default is 1024, max is 1536. 'ulimit -n 1536' didn't help. Attempting
to launch konqueror again complained about a missing library.

At this point, no shared libraries at all could be found (even the
system libraries in /lib and /usr/lib). I had to drop into DDB and
reboot to recover the machine.
