It is problematic.  E.g. old vi versions (version 1 (1977) or 2 (1979)) work well with ncurses but have many issues with curses.  Not relevant today, but had been a surprise to me.  The issue with wmove is not understandable, it is a basic function.  Before I had problems with subwindows.

It's a pity, would be good to not need ncurses on NetBSD.
