In your situation can you run xscreensaver and use "xscreensaver-command
-lock" (or xlock or whatever else you favor) to lock your screen before
the hibernate event kicks off?
If you have your laptop configured for hibernate & wake-up linked to the
lid switch and automatically kicked off, then I'm not sure how you are
going to magically have the OS start a screensaver on wake-up... However,
I doubt that's the case. Anytime I've done that in my BIOS rather than in
the OS, the system either crashes or is very unstable.
