When one attempts to open a shell script in seamonkey (and presumably
other browsers, or anything else using the mime types system), the
default action offered is to open the script in abiword.

Let's ignore for the moment that the browser should just display the
thing; failure to do so with assorted mime types is a well-known issue
not easily resolved except maybe by upstream.

But, in what bizarro alternate universe does it make sense to open
shell scripts in *abiword*? I guess it's partly my fault for having it
installed at all, but still, it seems crazy.

Install abiword. (abiword-2.8.6nb27)

Download a shell script with proper mime-type marking. (it is
properly marked or the browser wouldn't recognize it as a "shell
script")

Correct abiword's .desktop file? Some other mime thing it installs? I
remain not entirely sure where these notions come from. But it's my
understanding that it's not the browser's fault, or at least not
directly.
