 Please close this PR. Some of the subsequent changes probably fixed the 
 compilation problems on Solaris.
 
 Please note that the modifications by marino@ to tcl-expect (generating 
 static libraries) now break compilation of that package on Solaris. I am 
 not going to open a PR for this, I fixed the problem locally for me.
