 If you want to patch a pile of legacy autoconf tests, whose incorrect
 results can be detected only by incorrect downstream behavior
 (sometimes at runtime), be my guest.
 
 Anyway, we should take this discussion to tech-pkg and stop bothering
 the submitter of the PR.
