 It seems the new crt{i,n}.o start files are not linked into temacs
 (the START_FILES make variable needs to be modified in the GNU
 makefile), hence it fails to link/load properly. It appears a very
 similar case is handled for DragonflyBSD in dragonfly.h; I know
 neither this pkgsrc package makefile nor the CRT system very well but
 maybe we could do something similar for NetBSD's CRT files?
