 Thank you for pointing out that this was fixed. I just used the standard 
version of links-gui under 
ftp.netbsd.org/pub/pkgsrc/packages/NetBSD/i386/5.1/All - maybe the fix has just 
not been updated in the binary packages? (Or do I just wrongly assume that 
binary packages are fixed as well?)
 
 Apart from this, I found a workaround: I compiled on another machine an older 
version of links-gui which needed libpng 14 and not 15 - using that version and 
copying the libpng 14 libraries solved the problem for me, too.
